The History of Ferrero Rocher

Ferrero Rocher got its start in Alba, a small town located in the hills of Piedmont, Italy. The makers wanted to bring the pleasure of a sophisticated specialty chocolate product to the masses. In 1982, Ferrero Rocher was released in Italy as well as in several other European countries. The first TV spot debuted in 1983 and in 1988, Ferrero Rocher was launched nationally in the United States, where it quickly became a consumer favorite among premium chocolate brands. In 1994, Ferrero Rocher launched in China and in 1996, the chocolates were rolled out in Russia. In 2014, a special new version called Grand Ferrero Rocher debuted; intended for gifting, it was extra-large in size and hollow in the middle (unlike its smaller predecessor). Today, Ferrero Rocher remains a beloved specialty chocolate all around the world and is well-known for its iconic gold wrapper and unique hazelnut flavor.
